Southwood Pharmaceuticals Pre-pack

Since 1989, Southwood Pharmaceuticals has supplied doctors with pre-packaged medications to provide an additional revenue stream for medical practices while improving patient care. Software and billing support for dispensing is available.

There are several advantages to dispensing medication directly to patients:

1. A new source of revenue to help offset increasing costs.

2. Reductions in errors: Tens of thousands of Americans are injured or killed each year because of communication errors between doctors and pharmacies

3. Time Efficiency: Dispensing a prescription usually takes less time than your office staff will spend on calls to pharmacies.

4. Increased patient therapy compliance: Over 20% of all prescriptions are not filled by patients after they leave the doctor’s office.

5. Convenience: over 75% of Americans would like to have their prescription filled in their doctors’ office instead of a pharmacy if given the option.

As one of the pioneering companies in the industry, Southwood has watched other repackaging companies emerge, disappear and be absorbed into each other. Throughout this evolution, Southwood has differentiated itself by adhering to the principles that inspired its creation:

- Letting the physician specify the drug of choice and therapeutic quantity that would most effectively treat his or her patients

- Supplying only high-quality bioequivalent generic drugs when indicated by the prescriber

- Providing easy-to-use systems for the physician to maintain inventory, dispensing records and to conduct patient counseling

- Maintaining a registered pharmacist on-call to assist and consult with the prescriber as required

- Continually upgrading the technology used in the preparation and delivery of drug products

Drug therapy questions are routed to one of our staff pharmacists for consultation. Each physician has a dedicated account representative to provide regular updates of dispensing journals and reimbursement materials. All drugs are stored in secure areas, accessible only by authorized personnel who are trained in inventory and production control. Incoming product is inspected prior to being received into inventory. Warehouse areas are constantly monitored to maintain consistent storage conditions. Drugs are repackaged in one of 7 certified clean rooms.

All repackaged drug products undergo rigorous quality assurance inspection during production and prior to release. Customer orders are compiled and packaged in tamper evident shipping containers for delivery via air freight. Most orders are shipped 48-72 hours after receipt.
